Discovery ~ Foundation ~ Transformation
Discovery ~ Foundation ~ Transformation
-Discover the root cause of the issue. All too often as health care providers, we “chase the pain.” Meaning, if the knee hurts, we focus on the knee. More often than not, the reason your knee hurts is because something else isn’t functioning as it should. This could be another body part such as your hip, but may be another system all together such as your breathing patterns or stress levels. We screen multiple systems within your body to find out what area we need to focus on 1st in order to help with your current injury or issue, and keep it from returning.
-Work on a solid foundation- “you must move well before you can move often” is a quote from FMS systems, and one that everyone should live by. We can make your painful area feel better within a few visits, but if you try and return to the activity you were limited from, more likely than not, you will end up injuring yourself again, or creating compensation patterns that will cause injury down the road. Once we find the root cause, we will work on re-training your body to move the way it should, setting that solid foundation for you to return to what you love.
-Which leads to the transformation phase. This is where your body gets to move in new and improved ways, not only returning you to the activities you desire, but improving your performance, and educating you on the importance of how your body moves to prevent future injury down the road. Empowering you, as the client to take your health and how your body moves to the next levels.
About
My name is Alicia Haseltine.
I have been practicing Physical Therapy for nearly 20 years in many different settings. I am passionate about empowering other's to take control of their health, especially through moving their bodies. This looks different for everyone, and unfortunately, over time, I have seen our profession be limited more and more from Insurance and liability standards. Because of that, I have stepped outside of the traditional insurance-based model and base my practice on what you need and want. Medicine by Movement Wellness and PT is out of network, meaning I do not work directly with insurance. We are no longer limited by insurance standards, and I customize your treatment specifically for you. Our office location is at 311 Price Street, but I also offer mobile/concierge services on request. This means for any traditional PT service, I come to you! Take the hassle out of stopping your day to make an appointment. I will bring my supplies to your residence, your work, or even the gym.
I have quite a bit of experience with event planning, and a passion for education. My goal is to empower and educate others to take care of their health. I know personally, I stay true to this when I am held accountable. That is where the wellness program comes in. My love for exercise, planning, and coordinating events led me to develop a program that offers many options to keep you moving, but more importantly, one-on-one and group opportunities to check in and make sure you are staying on track. Let's take that first step together to get you moving the way you would like to, and give you options to maintain your health moving forward.
I look forward to working with you!

Treatment Approach
I offer traditional Physical Therapy services, with a large emphasis on manual-based therapy. My ultimate goal is to get you moving, because movement is the best medicine! I have found over time, there is a large gap in people's health and continued journey of recovery and maintenance after traditional PT. This is why I have developed a wellness program that helps to bridge that gap, as well as offer continued support to those that need it.

It can look more like remote coaching where we meet initially for a movement screen and then develop goals that you work on independently, and we follow up weekly on the phone, via email or however you prefer

It can be a holistic approach where we work together with multiple health care providers/healers and make sure your health team is all on the same page and giving you as well-rounded approach to health as possible

The next 6 week
Low Back Pain Class
is now open for registration!
Class starts Tue, Sep 2nd!
This group class is designed to help anyone who has struggled with Low Back Pain or would like to avoid it in the future. It is constructed to provide challenging, but safe exercises for all ages and activity levels.
It will begin on Tuesday, Sep 2 from 12-1pm at 311 Price Street, and continue each following Tue for 6 weeks. It is available via zoom, and will be recorded so you are able to watch at a later time if needed. We will start about 5 after the hour, and wrap up at 5 till for anyone attending on a lunch break.
You will meet as a group 1x/week to go through specific exercises and treatment techniques to help with your back pain, progress your strength and flexibility, and prevent future problems. Alicia has been working with low back pain patients for nearly 20 years, and will provide accommodations and modifications to keep you safe throughout.
Videos and information will be given weekly as homework ranging from proper nutrition to help with your pain, ergonomic set ups to avoid aggravating the back, education in back mechanics and activity, as well as specific exercises and stretches based off your current function and pain levels.
This is the perfect transition for those folks that have participated in Physical Therapy, and are ready to be discharged, but don’t feel totally comfortable continuing to work on their own. Never been to PT and unsure if you can handle it? No worries! I will adjust the exercises to make sure you stay safe, yet still make gains. It’s also the perfect class to learn new tricks and techniques to prevent future LBP, and just to strengthen your core and improve your overall function!
The cost is $200 for the course, which is just over $30/session. This is often less than the cost of a co-pay if you are attending PT, so also a great option for those on a budget.
If you can't make this 6 week course, but are interested, reach out to Alicia at 907-623-8708 to get on the wait list for the next 6 week course!

See what my clients have to say about these 2 classes!
“I learned a lot about targeted exercises to optimize joint function and stability, using correct form and body alignment for those exercises and appreciated the individual feedback during the 6 sessions.
The access to the printed materials and videos has been particularly helpful as well, really reinforcing the learning experience for me.”
“I had really struggled with what to focus on to help my knee pain, and Alicia not only gave us lots of options to start with, and progress to, but corrected my form, and gave us lots of modifications to make it pain-free. I didn’t know I could actually squat! I walked out of the the 6 week class with a clear idea of what to focus on, as well as some good goals for the near future. I would recommend this to anyone struggling with knee osteoarthritis, or really any knee pain!”
“The low back pain class was exactly what I needed to motivate me to take charge of my back pain. I learned quite a few new exercises and tips to help me the next time my back goes out, but more importantly, it got me on a regular routine of exercise for my back and held me accountable to stay with it. Thank you, Alicia!”

~Testimonials~
"I’ve worked with Alicia for the better part of 2 months to help with issues surrounding compensation patterns and old old injuries. She helped me determine the root-causes of my primary concerns with no medical diagnosis or imaging and gave me a clear guide to correcting my movement and alleviating chronic pain that was limiting my performance. As an aged athlete and veteran gym goer, it was a huge relief to get real course correction and practical action items that noticeably worked and improved each week. Thanks a ton Alicia! "

Alicia is a personable and gifted therapist. She has a wealth of knowledge, and individualizes her work with you to fit your specific situation(s). “ Alicia, Thank you for your patience, support and guidance with me through the past few years and helping me to get back to my gardens this summer.”
-Tama
Alicia saves my life, because I am a very active person with scoliosis I require maintenance therapy and very few physical therapist understand what to do.
When I have acute injuries she always knows what to do. Manual therapy is the best.
I recommend Alicia to anyone requiring PT.
-Lorraine
I had a total knee replacement in January of 2024. I chose to see Alicia at Medicine by Movement Wellness and PT for my physical therapy based on recommendations from PTs who previously worked in Sitka, and I am so glad I listened to their advice! Alicia has been amazing and has become a near permanent fixture in my life as we have navigated my rehab over the last year. My road to recovery has been complicated and I have needed multiple follow-up procedures. Alicia has been there through the entire ordeal and has been instrumental in helping me make decisions on those procedures.
She is extremely knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely cares about helping you achieve your goals. If you are in Sitka and you need physical therapy, I can tell you without hesitation that Alicia is the way to go!

I feel incredibly blessed to have found an exceptional Physical Therapist in Alicia Haseltine in Sitka, AK. Last year, when her business “Medicine by Movement” was still a fledgling entity, she came to my home and addressed some nagging structural issues for me. She also met me at the local gym to instruct me on site with some equipment and exercises that would benefit me.
This fall, when I returned to Sitka, I had a painful foot injury that was limiting my ability to walk. Thankfully I had Alicia!
She quickly identified the root of the problem and has helped me remedy it with passive and active physical therapy work.
Her knowledge and skill are immense and the residents of Sitka are fortunate to have a practitioner of her caliber in the community. I would highly recommend her!

Regarding the Wellness group:
“This class is fantastic! We have our own personal PT instructing us in each movement, explaining how to move, what and what-not to feel and how to modify. And the music and vibe of the class adds to a fun workout...... highly recommend it!”
-Linda
“I’ve just started and enjoying it very much. Alicia is fantastic! She demonstrates the movements so you can do them in a chair or on the floor... whatever fits your movement needs. And the music & other participants are wonderful! So glad to have started on this Medicine by Movement journey.”
-Chris
Alicia’s Wellness Group is the best! Alicia does an incredible job of making the class accessible to people of all abilities. It’s impressive! Being able to watch the videos of the classes if you are unable to attend is a great option.
Alicia is great at motivating you to be active in a safe and non-judgmental way.
-Ellen
If you want to work with a professional who listens, cares and gives honest helpful feedback...Alicia is the person to see. Working with her allows me to be in control of my health and not an insurance company. I get to decide what I want to work on, what I want to ask for help with and when. One of the best things I did for myself to help with "anti aging" was starting to work with Alicia. No regrets and looking forward to more healthful gains in 2025!
-Patty
