Discovery  ~ Foundation  ~ Transformation

ABOUT

Discovery  ~ Foundation  ~ Transformation

-Discover the root cause of the issue. All too often as health care providers, we “chase the pain.”  Meaning, if the knee hurts, we focus on the knee.  More often than not, the reason your knee hurts is because something else isn’t functioning as it should.  This could be another body part such as your hip, but may be another system all together such as your breathing patterns or stress levels.  We screen multiple systems within your body to find out what area we need to focus on 1st in order to help with your current injury or issue, and keep it from returning.

-Work on a solid foundation- “you must move well before you can move often” is a quote from FMS systems, and one that everyone should live by.  We can make your painful area feel better within a few visits, but if you try and return to the activity you were limited from, more likely than not, you will end up injuring yourself again, or creating compensation patterns that will cause injury down the road.  Once we find the root cause, we will work on re-training your body to move the way it should, setting that solid foundation for you to return to what you love.

-Which leads to the transformation phase.  This is where your body gets to move in new and improved ways, not only returning you to the activities you desire, but improving your performance, and educating you on the importance of how your body moves to prevent future injury down the road.  Empowering you, as the client to take your health and how your body moves to the next levels.

About

My name is Alicia Haseltine.

I have been practicing Physical Therapy for nearly 20 years in many different settings.  I am passionate about empowering other's to take control of their health, especially through moving their bodies.  This looks different for everyone, and unfortunately, over time, I have seen our profession be limited more and more from Insurance and liability standards.  Because of that, I have stepped outside of the traditional insurance-based model and base my practice on what you need and want.  Medicine by Movement Wellness and PT is out of network, meaning I do not work directly with insurance.  We are no longer limited by insurance standards, and I customize your treatment specifically for you.  Our office location is at 311 Price Street, but I also offer mobile/concierge services on request.  This means for any traditional PT service, I come to you!  Take the hassle out of stopping your day to make an appointment.  I will bring my supplies to your residence, your work, or even the gym.

I have quite a bit of experience with event planning, and a passion for education.  My goal is to empower and educate others to take care of their health.  I know personally, I stay true to this when I am held accountable.  That is where the wellness program comes in.  My love for exercise, planning, and coordinating events led me to develop a program that offers many options to keep you moving, but more importantly, one-on-one and group opportunities to check in and make sure you are staying on track. Let's take that first step together to get you moving the way you would like to, and give you options to maintain your health moving forward.

I look forward to working with you!

Treatment Approach

I offer traditional Physical Therapy services, with a large emphasis on manual-based therapy. My ultimate goal is to get you moving, because movement is the best medicine! I have found over time, there is a large gap in people's health and continued journey of recovery and maintenance after traditional PT.  This is why I have developed a wellness program that helps to bridge that gap, as well as offer continued support to those that need it.

6 week group class for Low Back Pain

This group class is designed to help anyone who has struggled with Low Back Pain or would like to avoid it in the future.  It is constructed to provide challenging, but safe exercises for all ages and activity levels.

It will begin on Tuesday, March 25 from 12-1pm at 311 Price Street, and continue each following Tue for 6 weeks.  It is available via zoom, and will be recorded so you are able to watch at a later time if needed.  We will start about 5 after the hour, and wrap up at 5 till for anyone attending on a lunch break.

You will meet as a group 1x/week to go through specific exercises and treatment techniques to help with your back pain, progress your strength and flexibility, and prevent future problems.  Alicia has been working with low back pain patients for nearly 20 years, and will provide accommodations and modifications to keep you safe throughout.

Videos and information will be given weekly as homework ranging from proper nutrition to help with your pain, ergonomic set ups to avoid aggravating the back, education in back mechanics and activity, as well as specific exercises and stretches based off your current function and pain levels.

This is the perfect transition for those folks that have participated in Physical Therapy, and are ready to be discharged, but don’t feel totally comfortable continuing to work on their own.  Never been to PT and unsure if you can handle it?  No worries! I will adjust the exercises to make sure you stay safe, yet still make gains.  It’s also the perfect class to learn new tricks and techniques to prevent future LBP, and just to strengthen your core and improve your overall function!

The cost is $200 for the course, which is just over $30/session. This is often less than the cost of a co-pay if you are attending PT, so also a great option for those on a budget.

Unsure if this is for you?  Come to the FREE Low Back Pain workshop on Friday, March 21 from 12-1 and learn some general exercises, as well as more about the program. Sign up for the workshop under "book an appointment"

If you can't make this 6 week course, but are interested, reach out to Alicia at 907-623-8708 to get on the wait list for the next 6 week course!

TESTIMONIAL

~Testimonials~

"I’ve worked with Alicia for the better part of 2 months to help with issues surrounding compensation patterns and old old injuries. She helped me determine the root-causes of my primary concerns with no medical diagnosis or imaging and gave me a clear guide to correcting my movement and alleviating chronic pain that was limiting my performance. As an aged athlete and veteran gym goer, it was a huge relief to get real course correction and practical action items that noticeably worked and improved each week. Thanks a ton Alicia! "
